homeschoolideas Alhamdulilah we ha a fun time matching our clothespins with the cards. We also raced each other to see who could finish their cards first.

Clothes pins came from the dollar store, and you can write on both sides of the clothes pin

homeschoolideas 003 We put them away in our bucket so we can have them for another day.

Lessons to learn: Letter identification

Word Family Sandwich

We played a game making pretend sandwiches!

Well with one of the children learning to put the sound of words together, we decided to expierment and make one of the pieces of bread the AT family and then in order to add to the sandwich they had to read the words correctly…

Take a look:

wordsandwichyogurt 001

So our 4 yr old has been liking this and once he gets the lettuce mustard and tomato ..he has to add the last piece of bread on top to complete the sandwich lol alhamdulilah he wold pretend to eat it at the end

A lot of the time the children are visual and so this got them excited, we played pretend and practiced some reading

InshaAllah I think we will do this again 🙂

What do you think? Any ways we could make this better? I’m looking to try this with my 5 yr old, with milk and cookies pictures, each one he gets right he can pretend to dip it in the milk!

They would love that.

The neat thing is, our two year old is catching on to it, he has been reading words alhamdulilah and enjoys sitting in on the lessons. He will practice with them, hmmm saves us work for when he really gets into the lesson!

Little Muslims- Just What Our Little Muslims Need

LMReview

Alhamdulilah it has been some time since we have blogged here, but  the children have been learning and growing mashaAllah. It’s been a blessing to be able to document the journey with everyone.

Recently we recieved some great books from Little Muslims! Wow subhanAllah, I was excited when I opened the package to see these awesome books:

Needless to say the children were excited too:

My husband and I appreciated the Arabic terms and the fact that there is diversity in each book, the children were able to see different spectrums of children and regions that were represented in the book.  This opened the doors for more discussion on diversity and different parts of the world and the blessing to be able to read the words as salaamu alaykum, Allahu akbar, etc

They were able to identify with the characters and the wording was age appropriate mashaAllah.

At the end of each of book there were simple questions to ask that related to each coloring book/ story book mashaAllah. It helped us to have a discussion and talk about what we learned and how we can relate.

The illustrations were beautiful, bright and captured the children’s attention.

We sang and danced to our own tune to 5 Little Muslims mashaAllah, these books are perfect for our circle time…and great all the time!

Reading On The Go!

Goodness, everywhere you turn there are letters, numbers, signs and more!

We should use these to our advantage! Our children have been reading on the go, by reading signs on the trains, the names and numbers all around us. It’s a great way to practice reading and learning new words.

Every time we go out we pass so many exit signs in our building. So one day I just started pointing to them and reading the letters. Then the children would repeat after me…soon after the children began to stop me and point to the letters and read them..then say the word.

It was nice to see them taking it in and learning to read the world around them. Also we began to learn what the words mean around us.

The awesome thing about learning is it can be done any where at any time and our homeschooling adventures are not limited to home… the whole world is our classroom

Egg Carton Garden

On our continuing journey with our indoor garden we used an egg carton to plant some seeds

A good way to use your finished egg cartons and I have even seen people use egg shells (that they painted)  which is a cool idea too, but we just used the egg carton.

As usual we added some sensory fun to it by letting the boys put their hands in the dirt, play in it, describe how it felt, and just let them enjoy it for a bit.

After we planted our seeds in the egg carton, we put them in a safe area, from the two year old lol and where they could get light and air.
